I am an experienced educator and tutor with over 20 years of experience teaching students of all ages, from elementary school through adults. I hold a Master’s in Elementary Bilingual Education and a Bachelor’s in Rhetoric with a focus on Creative Writing and Poetry. I am fluent in English and Spanish, which allows me to support diverse learners, including English Language Learners. My professional experience includes classroom teaching, private tutoring, small-group instruction, and nonprofit leadership, where I founded and currently lead Arizona Masters of Poetry, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, that empowers youth and adults through creative writing, spoken word poetry, and performance.
I help students build confidence while strengthening reading comprehension, writing skills, and creative expression. I design engaging, student-centered lessons tailored to each learner, including struggling or reluctant readers, students with learning differences, and advanced learners. My teaching approach is supportive, interactive, and personalized, emphasizing both academic growth and self-confidence.
Beyond tutoring, I lead workshops, after-school clubs, and community programs, including youth poetry festivals, writing competitions, and virtual classes. I am passionate about fostering introspection and self-expression and helping students explore ideas, communicate effectively, and thrive personally and academically in a calm, encouraging environment.
