I haven't got the chance to be an "official" tutor before. I have been a trainer at every job I've ever had. I currently have been working in dental for 6 years, specializing in prosthodontics. Initially I started my dental career in, on the clinical side of dentistry. I than proceeded to become a trainer, just recently appointed the L4 position making me the top trainer in my region.
I love teaching people, the instant gratification I get when I see the, "light bulb," go on in someone's eyes. It makes me feel as if I have a purpose to help others. The amount of patience that comes naturally to me while teaching is a very compelling feeling, whether it be teaching a lesson on how to do a wax wet up or helping someone finally understand and retain vocabulary.
I'm not sure if there is a need for me in this industry but coming from someone who understands how hard density is to learn with little to no college is very hard and unexpected. Reading and remembering things you're taught in a book isn't the hard part, it's learning how to apply that to real life. I have a lot of experience in helping make that connecting with those I get the opportunity to teach.
I was a dental assistant for two years and currently a removable tech going on four years. I understand dentistry from a complete beginner in a very fast paced environment and a specialize level. Dentistry is very complicated to understand and until you make the connection between verbally and intra-orally. With experience and expertise ranging from preliminary impressions to full heat injected prosthesis and basic FMX-RCT's to being able to fully troubleshoot dentures confidently.
As I sad above, I'm not sure if there is a need for this type of tutoring but if I help just one person be successful in their career this will have been worth it.
