I have been a teacher or tutor for over 20 years now. As a teacher, I taught mostly bilingual 4th grade, but as a tutor, I've worked with all ages. I have a B.A. in Elementary Education, a minor in Spanish, and a M.S. in Literacy.

My favorite part of teaching has been that one-to-one and small group connection -- tailoring instruction to individual needs -- now this is what I love best about tutoring!

Hello! If you are looking for some English help, I'd love to be your guide. The majority of my teaching experience has been in bilingual/ESL education. As a teacher and tutor I've worked many years with 4th grade bilingual students, a few years as a teacher for adult ESL classes, and a few years as a personal tutor for Adult English language students. My second language is Spanish, which has been helpful for native Spanish speakers learning English, as well as giving me personal insight into learning a second language, that I am able to incorporate into my teaching.

I have a Masters in Literacy, and this subject has been one of my favorite parts of teaching. I am an avid reader, and I bring this energy to my work with students. My favorite part of the teaching day has been guided reading instruction, in which I introduce a book, assess a student's strengths and needs, and focus on a particular skill with that student.

I taught bilingual students in the Valley View School district for 9 years and taught Spanish to the 2nd- through 8th-graders at an area school for one year. I've tutored Spanish in various grades and particularly enjoy working with elementary and middle school students.

Writing

Writing is my all-time favorite subject -- and I love writing myself! I've written for moneybasicsu.com, lifehack.org, healthtoday.com, the Enterprise/Bugle, Writer Access, and more! My goal in writing to is draw on students' interests to help make writing an enjoyable experience. The best writing is inspired writing! For younger students, I have experience with Step Up to Writing to help with writing structure. I enjoy conferencing with students to help them develop their own sense of their writing and what strengths and needs they have. I also love grammar, spelling, and proofreading in general!
