Hello, my name is Anthony! I graduated Eastern Illinois University with a History and Teacher Licensure degree. I have a background in Special Education as I worked at an Alternative school before my present job. I am currently a teacher and wrestling coach at a high school. I specialize in tutoring Social Studies topics such as U.S History, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, and many more! I have previous experience tutoring during college at the Newman Catholic Center near my university where a group of volunteers would help primary to elementary students with English, Math, and Social Studies.
My goal for our lessons will be to not only improve your knowledge in your chosen topic, but to help you find how best you learn. I would achieve this by first building a relationship to identify problems, then to create a plan together to solve these problems, and to finally put those plans into actions with realistic and measurable goals. Some techniques I prefer using include chunking, use and gradual reductions of templates, and student creation. In my classroom I found that these techniques which allow students to relate to the subject helps improve learning and retention, especially in social studies. I hope as we continue with these lessons you will find ways that you learn best and apply this to other subjects.
If you believe that my help would be beneficial please do not be afraid to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
