I am Samuel L., an experienced professional looking forward to helping students succeed not just in school, but in the real world. I graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology. I currently am pursuing a graduate degree in Quality Management and Analytics with a Project Management certification. In school, I realized that my favorite professors were always the ones with deep industry experience, people who had worked in the positions that their students would one day be in. I want to provide the same real-world mindset to students studying engineering courses.
I have a vast array of experience in various different areas, such as CAD/CAM work, automation management and programming, industrial hygiene, project management, six sigma principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, manufacturing layout and design, process improvement, CNC programming, fabrication techniques, and much more. I have taught classes of 20 students or more, as well as worked one on one with individual students and trainees.
If you are like me, then you probably have to work harder than others to understand the same concepts and topics. I am not what some would call a 'naturally gifted' student. Instead, I had to leverage my practical mindset and hard work ethic to do well in courses. I love what I do, and I have found my passion in the manufacturing and quality industry. I have spent time teaching automation, CNC programming and fabrication, CAD for manufacturing, and more. My tutoring is more organized and structured, but I want to teach my students how to solve problems that are not structured nor organized.
I want to benefit students and help them succeed not just in a classroom environment, but in the real world. Helping prepare students for their job and their future is what education is all about.
