Hello! My name is Lydia and I am a certified Elementary Education teacher. I received my bachelors in Elementary Education in 2020 from Evangel University, graduating magna cum laude. My minor is in Intercultural Studies. I have been teaching in the elementary school setting for 4 years now. I have taught 2nd grade and 4th grades, while tutoring students as young as 1st grade. I have taught all common core subjects, including math, reading, writing, science, social studies, and spelling. Teaching reading and writing is a real passion of mine! I have experience with multiple math and reading curriculums (Go Math, iReady Math, Wit and Wisdom, etc.)
While teaching, I have also gained experience working with special needs students, specifically autism. Through this experience I have learned how to accommodate and modify material to fit the needs of the student. Throughout my years in the classroom, I have had class sizes of 20-25 students, with 3-4 special needs students each year. I am proficient in small groups lessons, one-to-one instruction, and whole-class instruction. I enjoy building relationships with students, creating fun and engaging lessons, and seeing students succeed!
