I'm a retired high school English teacher. In my classes, students learned correct, traditional grammar; spelling; vocabulary; American literature; and research preparation. In addition, I became a librarian in part because I was interested in a wide variety of subjects. Therefore, I could bring my love of history, geography, various sciences, the arts, and other fields to my lessons. However, don't rely on my answers to math questions - my real weakness. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
