Provides Socratic feedback
One of the strong points about Ayako teaching is providing Socratic feedback and forcing me to think and find answers myself first. She uses this technique wisely, e.g. when I don't know a word she usually gives an answer, but for grammar questions I have to find answers myself.

Fantastic tutor!!
When I started my search, I was having a difficult time finding tutors who were native Japanese speakers. I really wanted my continuing studies to be with someone who could give me insight into the proper phrases and most commonly used translations. Ayako sensei has provided those things and more. I have been with Ayako sensei for over a year and have seen an incredible improvement in my Japanese. She is patient and takes time to fully answer my questions and makes sure that I understand her answers. She frequently checks in with me to make sure that the lessons are geared towards what it is I want to learn. She offers very helpful study aids to use in addition to the books that we work through in our sessions. She also keeps me apprised of Japanese culture related events that are going on in the area. I highly recommend her!

Very disappointed
We took the opportunity to meet Ayako ahead of time and she never mentioned that she would be taking a two to three month leave of absence in April 2013. I am frustrated that my son has only had two lessons and we will now have to find a new tutor. We should have been told by Ayako at the time we met her that this would be the case.
