Dear Student,

My name is Marek and I am looking to be your tutor! I graduated top of my class with the Bell Honor Award from UIC - Chicago in 2022 with a Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a minor in mathematics! After graduation, I realized that in addition to my passion for working as a chemical engineer in the manufacturing world, I love to teach as it brings me more joy, satisfaction, and feel-good moments seeing kids progress in subjects they are struggling with or just simply wanting to excel in!

My true passion for teaching and tutoring came when I started to tutor high schoolers at Huntington Learning Center. Here I taught mathematics, physics, chemistry, ACT (math + science) prep, as well as SAT (math) prep. Working with the same students weekly seeing the progression, effort, and drive the students had motivated me to be the best teacher I could be.

My tutoring style really depends where you are at with the material being worked on. I usually start with a slightly hands off approach assessing where you are at with the skills being tested on the coursework. After the assessment I will go ahead and deem which part of my learning strategy philosophy should be approached.

1. Begin with basic examples to understand the fundamentals explaining step by step. (limited understanding).
2. Show you one or two different ways to get the same answer if applicable. Verify student understanding by asking student to explain reasons for solving the problem as they do. (basic understanding)
3. Work on tougher examples and have you explain your steps in detail to really show true, full understanding.

As we progress our skills, we will move from strategy 1 to 2 to 3 to excelling!

No matter the strategy, opening the floor for you is critical to our success as well! I am very open to constructive feedback, adapting to your needs, customizing learning strategies, and preferences in time / day / style of teaching etc. I am here to help : ) !

Sincerely,
Marek
