I am a licensed Special Education Teacher in Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Special Education and a Master of Arts in Special Education Leadership. I currently teach middle school special education and serve as a case manager, working with students who have a wide range of academic, behavioral, and executive functioning needs. In addition to classroom teaching, I serve as an MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) coach, where I help analyze student data, develop interventions, and support teachers in implementing effective instructional practices.
I have over six years of experience working with students in grades 6-8 in both general education and special education settings. Throughout my career, I have provided instruction in mathematics, reading, writing, study skills, executive functioning, and organizational strategies. My experience includes co-teaching, small-group instruction, one-on-one support, progress monitoring, and developing individualized education plans (IEPs). I regularly work with students who require accommodations, modifications, and targeted interventions to achieve academic success.
My teaching approach focuses on building confidence while providing explicit, structured instruction tailored to each learner's needs. I use modeling, guided practice, visual supports, and scaffolded instruction to help students master new concepts. In addition to supporting K-12 students, I have extensive knowledge of special education procedures, IEP development, case management, and MTSS systems. I enjoy helping students, future educators, and families better understand learning differences and develop practical strategies that lead to meaningful growth and success.
