Hello, I am Michael. I graduated from undergrad with three Bachelor's degrees, in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Psychology. I then had a brief stint tutoring at an agency, and moved on to get a Master's in mathematics. After teaching Calculus for some time, I then returned to tutoring. The agency I worked with specialized in helping students from less fortunate backgrounds, although we saw all sorts of students. I have worked with elementary students seeking a challenge, middle school students struggling with fractions, high school students trying to raise their ACT score into the 30's, college students in Organic Chemistry, and even adults perhaps studying for a return to college, just to name a few. I believe the age range of my past students is from 5 to 65 at the moment.
I have tutored many subjects; to list them all would be excessive. At the agency I worked with, I frequently handled "unusual cases" that came. As one example, I once helped a student with their thesis in Criminal Justice (which I saw as a writing student). However, I would say that I specialize in Mathematics (of all levels: Elementary, Middle, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Statistics, Calculus, Linear Algebra, all the way up to and past preparation for the GRE Math Subject test; basically, if you need help with math, try contacting me and we can see if I can help), Chemistry, Writing, and test prep (e.g., ACT, SAT, GRE, GRE Math, LSAT, and at least parts of the MCAT as well as many more).
Throughout my now over a decade of experience tutoring, I have developed a particular style that tends to focus around a student's individual needs. I have noticed that educational systems are usually lacking, and people can easily get left by the wayside. Thus it is important to find where a student may have gotten lost. This means that my lessons tend to be quite tailored to the specific student; it is difficult to describe a general form. Feel free to reach out: I would be happy to talk at length, answering any questions or concerns you may have.
