I have a Biology BS degree from Eastern Illinois University with teacher certification. I also have a Master's degree in curriculum and instruction as well as 60+ credit hours in teacher leader, technology education, and character education. I have been teaching chemistry and honors chemistry for 12 years and have taught biology, physical science, and anatomy at different times throughout my career. I teach high school sophomores in a large suburban high school. I have also served as an Academic Resource Center science tutor, so I assist students during their off periods with science help.
I have a metacognitive approach - I don't care what the answer is, I care how you get to the answer and how to fix your mistakes without giving up. Making mistakes and fixing them is the best way to learn! I help students to identify patterns to assist them in solving problems. I use humor, mnemonic devices, and pictures to help students learn and retain the information and skills they learn. I have numerous resources not only from my own classes, but also from shared sources. I can create worksheets, practice quizzes, and give real time feedback. I look forward to working with you!
