With a passion for sharing knowledge and guiding individuals to achieve their goals, I have taught countless subjects in STEM, test prep, and college applications for the past 16 years. From middle school students to adults, I create individualized plans for clients to progress quickly through their needs!

I graduated from MIT with a bachelor's and a master's in electrical engineering. As a high school senior, I was accepted into every Ivy League university (including Harvard, Yale, and Princeton), Stanford, Caltech, and UChicago. High school was my first introduction to teaching, when I taught piano lessons to several middle school students in my town, as well as running a tutoring program in AP Calculus to my fellow students struggling in the subject. Through college, I tutored high school students in the Boston Public School network as a part of MIT's work-study program, young kindergarteners in reading at the Cambridge Community Center, and English as a Second Language to custodial employees at MIT through a program provided to MIT employees. Even after graduating and working as an engineer for five years, I simultaneously tutored with Cambridge Coaching to feed my desire to educate, focusing on math, science, test prep, and electrical engineering for high school students, college students, and even a tech start-up CEO! Eventually, I left engineering altogether in order to pursue my true passion of teaching! I have been teaching high school students at APEX International Education for the past several months.

My approach to tutoring begins with an evaluation of the student's understanding by looking at past exams and assignments and working through them. If it is the beginning of the semester, I give the student practice questions from pre-requisite courses. After identifying problem areas, I focus on creating a lesson plan to clarify those areas and solidify understanding with appropriate practice problems, either provided on my own or through books and assignments from the class.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

As a high school senior, I received a perfect 36 in the ACT Math section and a 35 overall ACT score. As a test taker, I discovered that doing well on a standardized test is a combination of understanding the material and test-taking techniques. As a tutor, I guide you through this understanding of how to answer a question using both knowledge and clever test-taking skills.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have taught high school algebra for over 14 years in-person and online both to students who need extra assistance to understand the subject as well as to students who are looking for enrichment to move ahead. I help students understand the basic concepts of the subject and then gradually help them tackle more complex problems.

College Counseling

College Counseling

As a high school student from 2008 to 2012, I navigated the college admissions process to be accepted to every Ivy League university (e.g. Harvard, Yale, and Princeton) as well as MIT, Stanford, Caltech, and UChicago. After receiving my bachelor's and master's from MIT, I worked as an engineer for 5 years before leaving to pursue my passion in education. Now, I work with high school students in math, science, test prep, and college admissions, helping pass on my knowledge of the college selection process to today's high school students.
Electrical Engineering

Electrical Engineering

I graduated from MIT with a bachelor's and master's in electrical engineering, and then worked as a design engineer for 5 years. I then left engineering in order to pursue my passion in education. I have used my electrical engineering experience to tutor college students in various EE courses, as well as even teaching a CEO of a tech startup circuit design to aid in his understanding of his company's product. I'm eager to help anyone in EE!
ESL/ESOL

ESL/ESOL

Learning English as a foreign language doesn't have to be frustrating or difficult. I spent years getting my Spanish and French to a C2 level, so I'm familiar with the effort needed to learn another language. Having tutored English to adults in various settings since high school, I am eager to apply my understanding of foreign languages in a comfortable, safe, and fun environment to help you master English!
French

French

During my college studies at MIT, I completed a full year abroad studying at Ecole Polytechnique outside Paris, and completed a French humanities concentration as part of my bachelor's degree. I again lived in France for a year in 2024 while working, solidifying my mastery of the language. As someone who learned French as a foreign language, I have first-hand experience in explaining the grammatical concepts that a native speaker has never needed to think about. I help my students accomplish their language goals and practice speaking with ease.

Music Theory

Music Theory

Having tutored for over 14 years in subjects ranging from music theory to foreign languages to math, I have a well-developed method of learning the needs of my students and tailoring my curriculum to them. I grew up playing violin, piano, string bass, and saxophone from the age of 10 and developed a great understanding of music theory. I took the AP Music Theory test and scored a 5 as a high school sophomore, and I continued to expand on music theory after, even writing and arranging pieces for my high school orchestra. I am very excited to be able to share my knowledge with my students!

Excellent Math Tutor!

Alex is a very thoughtful and well-prepared tutor that I highly recommend! My daughter was having difficulties with the precalculus material in her class, and Alex has worked with her consistently to improve her grasp on the subject and has done so in a way that increased her confidence in math. When I hear them working together, his approach is very encouraging and friendly, something that has worked very well with my daughter who can be quite anxious when struggling with school. We've seen a consistent increase in her test scores. I'm very thankful for Alex's hard work!
