After High School he continued his training in the ranks of Drum Corps International (DCI) Spending time with the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps (1993) and the spring of 1994 with the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps.
Jason was an avid percussionist while attending college both at Boise State University (1993) and marching snare for the Blue Thunder Marching Band. While at Brigham Young University-Idaho (BYU-Idaho) Jason founded the Rix Stix Indoor Drum Line. Jason later spent time as Adjunct Music Faculty at BYU-Idaho Specializing in Rudimental percussion and drum set and teaching private lessons and master classes beginning in 1999.
In 2011 with the cooperation of the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, Jason founded the Indoor Drumline “Troopercussion” and served as Executive Director for 7 WGI seasons.
Jason is an accomplished percussion instructor who teaches a well-rounded approach to the art of percussion. He has instructed for various high schools in Idaho and has given numerous clinics to young players in the Snake River Region. He teaches beginning to advanced private students at his studio in Rigby, Idaho. He has participated in various musical ensembles as a performer. Jason holds a BS from Brigham Young University-Idaho in I/O psychology with a minor in music and a minor in Spanish.
Jason is married to his wife of 25 years and the father of three wonderful children (also drummers) and three dogs.
