After moving up to 6th grade the levels of my students were varying so I had to work with my reading specialist and math specialist often to help make our intervention groups based on the gaps and weaknesses for the students in the entire 6th grade so around 100 students or so. I helped to form and create those targeted groups so the students could close their gaps and show mastery and if not then the teaching styles for those standards was changed to meet the needs of the struggling students. I also helped to make enrichment or challenge groups for the same 6th grade classes who need extension in areas of reading, writing, math, science and social studies. We provided them with labs, stem projects and more research based/project based learning to better suit their needs and strengths to help them grow in all areas.
When I looped up with the same group from 6th grade to 7th grade I helped to create a school wide intervention system for all 6-8th graders around 300 students. I helped create the math, reading, writing lessons for gaps, along with lessons for those same subjects for gifted and enrichment of students. I enjoy finding gaps or areas of interests for the students to help them achieve thier full potential. I have worked on tutoring after school with kids needing help in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, study skills and organization skills. I have also worked with many gifted students helping them to get ahead and stay ahead if any subject they want to work on. I love seeing the confidence boost and self esteem growth students get when they really understand something or see something from a differing point of view.
