Hi, I’m Katie! I am an experienced educator with over fifteen years of tutoring experience supporting students from elementary school through adulthood. I specialize in helping students build strong foundations, gain clarity with challenging material, and develop confidence through structured, thoughtful instruction.
I hold a Master of Public Health degree and have completed over four years of doctoral studies. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Cellular Biology, as well as an Associate of Ministry degree. I am a published first author in peer-reviewed scientific journals and have collaborated on research projects with respected academic and research institutions. This background allows me to support students with high-level analytical thinking, writing, and test preparation while still meeting learners where they are.
I work with students across a broad range of subjects, including math, science, English, writing, history, and standardized test preparation such as the SAT, ACT, ISEE, HSPT, GED, and GRE. I also assist with college admissions and essay development, and I enjoy working with homeschooled learners. My sessions are structured yet supportive, with an emphasis on understanding the reasoning behind concepts so students can apply what they learn independently.
My approach to tutoring is student-centered and goal-oriented. Many of the students I work with are capable but feel overwhelmed or unsure how to approach their work. I aim to provide clarity, organization, and steady guidance, enabling students to move forward with confidence and build skills that extend beyond a single class or exam.
