Hello! My name is Emily, and I am an educator, teaching in the public school system for several years, a passionate homeschooler of five children, and a lover of all good books. I have a degree in vocal music education and spent many years teaching other subjects in public schools as well. I love working one on one with students and especially enjoy helping people to read, write or sing with more confidence. I am happy to work with a variety of levels and expect you will find that I am very approachable and will help you meet your goals.
I have loved reading since before I can even remember. I love diving into good books (especially the Classics), and believe that having the skills to read well will bring confidence and open doors into so many spheres of life. I am a trained teacher and have worked with many students on using language through singing, poetry and reading. The English language is amazing, complex and fascinating. I love helping students confidently read, write and speak the English language.
I am a trained Vocalist and music educator and have my degree in Vocal Music Education. I have spent over 10 years teaching voice lessons and classroom music. I have worked with students who were completely tone deaf and helped them find their "voice' and sing in tune. I love training the voice and the ear to hear well. I think voice lessons are an incredible opportunity to get to know an individual voice and shape them by giving them the tools to sing for the rest of their life. I am trained classically and teach using the Kodaly method.
I believe if you can sing classically, you can sing ANY genre well! I love the "science" behind music, or theory of music! I was a TA in college to my Music Theory Professor and I continue to add value both in the classroom and in voice lessons by explaining music theory terms and concepts to my students.
I would love to connect with you! Please contact me and we can talk about scheduling a lesson together!
