While teaching elementary music for 20 years I have learned a love and respect for students who require extra help.
A couple of years ago the special teachers were asked to help other students who needed extra help in other areas of school work. It was a very rewarding experience for me helping students in other areas rather than music. I believe music helps stimulate the brain and is very important, but I have enjoyed helping in other areas as well.
I believe that with my patience and understanding of children, I would be a great tutor. I have had several private flute students who made great progress that impressed band teachers, I believe I could also be valuable in other subjects as well.
I studied psychology in college and found it fascinating.
I have helped tutor reading in my school when I had breaks from my music classes.
I am an elementary music specialist, and have been teaching for 20 years now. I have worked with the elementary teachers in my schools concerning different topics that I might be able to help with. I feel I have a good understanding of young children and how to help them learn.
It took me three years to make a sound on my instrument. I was finally given the opportunity for lessons. Because I struggled with learning, I know how to help others be successful. I understand the frustration of beginning and if a student is passionate about learning I can help it be fun and exciting. I am an accomplished player now and have performed in many groups around the valley.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Elementary music education teaches sight singing and ear training skills to young children. I have trained in Orff music education and Kodaly training and have received certificates for doing three years in each.
Taken lessons throughout junior high, high school and college. Have taught privately for 30 years. Have success with many private students.
I am currently teaching elementary music education and have been teaching for 20 years.
As an elementary education specialist I teach sight singing skills as well. I have certified in Kodaly training which emphases sight singing.
