I have performed in orchestras, chamber music groups, wedding music ensembles, bluegrass bands, & country bands. I have played violin since 1988 & taught since 2003. I hold a Bachelor of Music (violin performance) from San Francisco State University & an A.A. in Comprehensive Musicianship (music theory & performance) from De Anza College.

I teach classical violin & bluegrass fiddle to adults and kids age six & older, & welcome adult beginners. I teach beginner students, including first time players, & intermediate students.

I offer an approach to classical violin studying the Strictly Strings and Suzuki Books, emphasizing technique, reading music, & music theory. I can also provide tutoring for school orchestra members & assistance with orchestra music. I teach bluegrass fiddle using an approach designed to help students be able to learn both by ear & with sheet music, & to prepare to play with other musicians or attend bluegrass jams, as well as play with good technique and posture. Fiddle students use the book Jack Tuttle's Bluegrass Fiddle Primer, by Jack Tuttle, if they can already read music. Students who do not yet know how to read music should start with Strictly Strings Violin Book 1 by Dillon, Kjelland, and O'Reilly. Online lessons only.
