Tutoring became and interest of mine as an undergraduate working in the writing center of Lewis-Clark State College. Working with domestic students was a great learning experience, however, I discovered a passion for assisting international students. This passion for international students guided me toward a Master's degree in English to elevate my own writing and teaching skills so I could find a job working with International students. I am currently working as an adjunct teacher for Lewis-Clark State College in the Institute of Intensive English program. In this program I prepare international students for success in an American college by teaching them successful writing, research, presenting skills, along with tools they will need to be successful college students.
The one thing I love the most about working with International students is seeing their confidence grow out of fear. Many students are afraid of not being successful in college, but once they have finished their pre-college classes they go on to college knowing that they will be successful and if they experience setbacks, they have the tools and information needed to get assistance. Teaching English as an other language has been very rewarding and I am looking forward to tutoring others who may not have had the same experience as the students I currently teach.
ESL/ESOL, literature comprehension and analysis, proofreading, speech preparation, essay writing and formatting, MLA formatting, poetry, and pronunciation.
I have an ability to communicate ideas and explanations in various way to ensure students understand the information they are trying to master. I look forward to working with new people.
