Hi! I’m Mia, and I’d love to help you reach your academic goals. I have a Master’s degree in Chemistry and undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology. I graduated Cum Laude with a 3.9 GPA and have been tutoring and teaching for about 5 years, with approximately 2,000 hours of experience working with students from middle school through college. My experience includes one-on-one tutoring, classroom teaching, academic mentoring, and volunteer education programs. I’m also a professional Nordic ski racer, which has taught me discipline, goal-setting, and perseverance; skills I bring to my tutoring.

I specialize in organic chemistry, general chemistry, biology, biochemistry, microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics and psychology. I also tutor MCAT C/P, B/B, and P/S; AP Biology, AP Chemistry, and AP Psychology, high school physics and math through Precalculus; and college Physics I & II and College Algebra. My teaching style is individualized: I first figure out what a student understands and where they are getting stuck, then adjust my approach to how they learn best. I focus on understanding rather than memorization. In organic chemistry, I help students understand why reactions happen and recognize patterns. For MCAT students, I focus on both content and applying knowledge to passages and practice questions.

Tutoring policies: I ask that students communicate cancellations or scheduling changes as early as possible. I’m also happy to have a brief introductory conversation before beginning regular lessons to discuss your goals and how I can best help.

Whether you’re struggling with a class, preparing for an exam, or looking to strengthen your foundation, I’d love to work with you! Reach out and tell me a little about what you’re working on, and we can make a plan together.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have extensive experience tutoring students in math and science and helping them build a strong foundation in core concepts. I am especially comfortable breaking down Algebra 1 topics such as equations, factoring, functions, graphing, and word problems into clear, manageable steps. My background in chemistry and biochemistry has given me a strong quantitative foundation and extensive experience applying mathematical concepts to problem-solving. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind each step so they can approach problems independently and confidently.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have a strong quantitative background through my undergraduate degrees in biochemistry and psychology and my master’s degree in chemistry. I have experience tutoring students in algebra and science and enjoy breaking down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps. I can help with Algebra 2 topics including functions, equations, polynomials, logarithms, and graphing. My goal is to help students understand the reasoning behind the problems and build confidence in solving them independently.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I have an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and a master's in chemistry. So, I know biochemistry can feel like a huge collection of pathways and structures to memorize, but I focus on helping you see how everything connects. We’ll break down the “why” behind the chemistry of life so you can reason through unfamiliar problems instead of relying on memorization.
Biology

Biology

I have a strong foundation in biology and related sciences. I tutor AP, high school, and college biology, including cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, physiology, and biochemistry. I tailor lessons to each student, whether you need help understanding difficult concepts, preparing for an exam, or catching up in a course. My goal is to make biology feel less overwhelming by helping you understand how concepts connect rather than relying on memorization.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I have been tutoring chemistry for the past 5 years with specialties in organic chemistry and biochemistry.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I have extensive writing experience through my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Biochemistry and my Master’s in Chemistry. I’ve written research papers, literature reviews, lab reports, scientific writing, and APA-style papers, and I have extensive experience helping students improve their writing. I can help with brainstorming, outlining, organization, clarity, grammar, sentence structure, and revision while keeping the student’s own voice and ideas at the center. I especially enjoy helping students take their ideas and turn them into clear, polished, compelling essays.
Fitness

Fitness

As a professional Nordic ski racer, I have extensive experience with endurance training, strength training, conditioning, and performance-focused fitness. I have trained year-round at both altitude and sea level and have developed a strong understanding of aerobic conditioning, strength development, mobility, and recovery. I can work with athletes and individuals looking to improve their fitness, endurance, strength, or overall athletic performance. I focus on creating practical, individualized training approaches that are sustainable and goal-oriented.
MCAT

MCAT

I went from the 16th percentile in C/P to the 96th percentile and from the 60th percentile to the 93rd percentile in B/B. I have a master's of chemistry that has strengthened my C/P background, and a strong foundation of biochem and biology tutoring.
Microbiology

Microbiology

I have a strong background in microbiology through my undergraduate biochemistry studies and master’s degree in chemistry. My laboratory and research experience includes molecular biology, CRISPR/Cas9, genetics, and microbiological concepts. I have extensive experience tutoring science and breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps. I can help students with topics including microbial structure, metabolism, genetics, immunology, pathogens, and disease.
