As a dedicated early childhood and elementary educator with extensive classroom and administrative experience, I bring a specialized, multi-sensory approach to early literacy and K–8 learning. Earning two promotions into lead teaching roles across Early Head Start and Head Start at the College of Southern Idaho (CSI), I directed classroom instruction while pursuing Early Childhood Education credentials through CSI and participating in continuous Idaho STARS professional development. My versatile background spans serving as a K-8 school secretary and kindergarten teacher aide, float-substituting across all K-8 grade levels, providing targeted one-on-one support for K-1 special education students, and successfully homeschooling two of my own children through 2nd grade, accelerating one to skip kindergarten entirely upon transitioning to public school.
I believe early literacy thrives when connected to hands-on exploration and individualized support. Operating under CSI Head Start's active learning philosophy and HighScope Curriculum standards, I employ creative teaching strategies that turn phonics, sound manipulation, and vocabulary development into interactive learning games.
Additionally, I have actively championed reading initiatives by organizing school-wide book fairs, guiding church youth groups, directing Awana memory work, and leading Girl Scout troops through structured badge work, guided reading, and expressive storytelling.
My goal in every session is to equip young students with core reading skills while building their self-worth and independence. Having supported dozens of young children and their families through key educational transitions, I understand how to meet each child at their precise developmental stage. Whether guiding early readers through phonemic awareness, adapting lessons for unique learning needs, or cultivating strong home-reading habits, I offer patient, expert instruction tailored to every child's growth.
