I am currently completing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Chemistry, where I have developed a strong foundation in biochemistry, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physiology. Over the past three years, I have worked as a teaching assistant in both general and organic chemistry laboratories, where I guided students through experiments, reinforced core concepts, and helped troubleshoot both theoretical and practical challenges. I have also spent the past year tutoring students in general biology and organic chemistry in both one-on-one and small group settings.
My teaching approach emphasizes building a solid understanding of core principles before focusing on details. I prioritize helping students understand why concepts work the way they do, rather than relying on memorization alone. This method not only improves performance but also builds long-term confidence and interest in the subject. I adapt my explanations based on the students’ level of understanding and aim to create an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through difficult material.
I also bring personal experience in overcoming academic challenges, which allows me to better connect with students who may be struggling. During one semester, I faced significant difficulty in a course and initially performed below passing on multiple exams. By refining my study strategies and focusing on conceptual understanding, I was able to improve my performance and finish with a B+. That experience shaped how I approach learning and teaching, and I use it to help students develop resilience and effective study habits.
