Hello. My name is Kathy Golden and I am an art instructor and a professional painter and illustrator. I teach age 6 and up and students do not need any prior experience. My goal is to teach drawing and painting in a fun atmosphere. I have a BA degree in fine art from San Jose State University. I am a professional artist as well as an instructor. I teach using drawing pencils, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, and watercolor. The emphasis is on realism because that is what I paint. I prefer going outside to places such as the Idaho Botanical Garden, Boise Nature Center, the Train Station and the Greenbelt. There is so much to paint in Boise that it makes sense to see and learn about the area while painting. Lessons indoors can offer other advantages such as drawing and painting still life. I have extensive background in teaching art for both organizations and privately. I have taught drawing and weaving through organizations such as the Education Department at the Steinhart Aquarium in San Francisco. I have a wealth of contract experience teaching at public schools. As far as private lessons, I have taught for 25 years both out in the field and inside. I have instructed from one person to groups of 15. This summer, 2022, I taught a one week class to 6 to 12 year olds at Pilgrim Cove in McCall through McCall Arts and Humanities. My personal art skills and fun personality make my art classes wonderfully unique. I adore teaching, which is one of the reasons I am an exceptional instructor.
As a professional artist I have exhibited in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley in California; Sun Valley, McCall, Boise and Coeur d'Alene in Idaho; and Seattle, Washington among other places. I have painted watercolors and illustrated professionally for 25 years and enjoyed every minute of it.
