I'm obsessed with chess! I have extensive experience teaching in-person at a local chess academy, and regularly attend local chess clubs, study chess with friends, compete in chess tournaments on weekends and coach up-and-coming chess players all day, every day. It's my passion!

My students describe me as knowledgeable, fun, and flexible. I meet students where they are in their chess journey, from a brand new student just learning the game to more advanced players learning opening theories and must-know endgames. I adapt sessions to fit students' needs. Significantly, I make learning chess fun! This is especially important for young chess players as they develop a love for the game.

Very Friendly and Instructive

Griffin does a great job of explaining general concepts as well as specific openings. It was especially helpful to be told why a position is good or bad. These kinds of things are less obvious than being down a piece. I look forward to continuing lessons and focusing on my areas of improvement.

Great teacher

Gives you good advice and resources on how to improve your game. Good mix of playing games against you versus going over fundamentals. Recommended for students trying to seriously improve.

Planned use cases for practice

I like the planned structure of the class and the clear direction on what needs to be covered and how. My daughter enjoys her class and looks forward to new lessons

Great teacher and good with kids

Griffin was meticulous in explaining why certain position in chess is more favorable than other , great in analyzing the game and pinpointing better moves than the one made.

Amazing Tutor

He Really helps with things to review, and it totally improved my play. He is quite funny as well. I recommend him as a teacher 100%. We played a couple of games that made me play way better. Not only that I learned some games that will help me see tactics way better. He also explains some concepts very well that might be hard to understand from others.
