A former National Institutes of Health researcher, I am interested in childhood development especially neurogenesis and how this can be translated into learning for both children and adults. I believe that a good tutor is someone who can help a student see, listen, feel and get a taste of life.

I teach a number of different classes including General Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Microarray and research practice. I enjoy working with students individually or in small groups to build their problem solving skills develop effective study habits.

Genetics

Genetics

I am a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences trained with the National Institutes of Health and the Johns Hopkins University. My field of expertise is in the investigation of pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis, a neurodegenerative disease with genetic basis. I am one of the first researchers in field to have use molecular genetics techniques to generate humanized transgenic mice to study the disease.
Study Skills

Study Skills

As a science researcher, I am well versed in the number of ways to gather, organize, and analyze data. Good organizational skills such as knowing how to sort and retrieve information is essential to excel in academia especially when it comes to writing scientific reports. One of my favorite lessons to give to students at the beginning of each semester is how scientists use common themes and unique characteristics to create the phylogenetic tree of the animal kingdom.
