I have more than 10 years of experience teaching guitar and helping children, teenagers, and adults become confident musicians. My qualifications come primarily from extensive professional teaching and music-school leadership experience rather than a formal music degree.
I founded North Idaho Rock School, a performance-based music program that grew to serve more than 250 students across two locations. During that time, I taught students individually and in group settings, developed lesson plans and curriculum, coached student bands, prepared students for live performances, and helped train and support other instructors.
My teaching approach is practical, encouraging, and tailored to each student. I use songs students genuinely want to play to teach essential skills such as chords, rhythm, tablature, technique, ear training, and musical confidence. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps and adapt my explanations to each student’s age, experience, learning style, and goals.
I currently specialize in live online guitar instruction for kids and teenagers, although I also work with adult beginners. I offer private lessons and small-group instruction. My goal is to give students a strong musical foundation while keeping lessons engaging, achievable, and connected to the music that inspired them to learn guitar.
