Bio

Hello, my name is Isaac and I am an upper division math and physics double major at Boise State University. I have been tutoring with College of Western Idaho for 5 years. Hello, my name is Isaac and I am an upper division math and physics double major at Boise State University. I have been tutoring with College of Western Idaho for 5 years. When I started tutoring I was rusty and spent most of my work hours shadowing more experienced tutors. Over the years of tutoring I became very proficient in the fundamentals, this has given me a huge advantage in the courses I take currently. I find that most of my school struggles weren't due to the course itself, but rather, due to the lack of certain fundamentals. Over a year ago I was promoted to lead tutor at CWI. I feel extremely blessed to have been given the opportunity to work as a tutor. I really enjoy when students get to their aha moments in the learning process.

I am a fan of understanding versus memorization/repetition. Sometimes there isn't enough time to build a deep understanding, in which case memorization may be necessary. However, I will likely work best with students who ask "why?" more than "what's next?" The personal learning process I have grown over the past five years has not only helped me to be the top of my class, it also has made learning fun for me. My goal in life is to help spread the joy of learning and understanding. I hope you will join me in further developing our learning processes together!

If you have any questions please contact me. I get such joy out of working with others on these fascinating topics. My goal is to help you find your unique learning style that will carry you through a lifetime of learning and teaching.

Subjects

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have tutored algebra at a college level for 5 years, and completed algebra 1 in high school around 13 years ago. I got ahead in high school math but ended up speeding through the material and not actually learning it. This lead to flunking out of calculus 2 several times. I started relearning the fundamentals of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry in order to become a tutor. Since then my fundamentals are strong and I am in my senior year of an applied math and physics dual major. I want to help people learn the fundamentals well the first time! Especially if they enjoy math and have a desire to continue pursuing it as a study.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have tutored algebra 2 for 5 years at a college level. I am also a math and physics dual major in my senior year, so I am very practiced with algebra techniques.
Calculus,

Calculus

I have 3 years experience as a calculus suite tutor (calc 1/2/3). I am also am a year away from a double major in applied math and physics, so I know ways calculus is applied, which can be beneficial for learning/teaching the subject.
Physics,

Physics

I’ve tutored at college of western Idaho for 5 years, and been the lead physics tutor for 2 years and have spent most of my time around physics 1 and 2. Also I am in my senior year of physics at Boise state university.
Prealgebra,

Prealgebra

I am a mathematics major at BSU in my senior year and have tutored pre algebra for over 5 years.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have half a decade experience tutoring trigonometry. I also am still a college student in my senior year of a dual major in physics and applied math, so I understand the struggle of math courses. Also nearly every course I take required a good knowledge of trigonometry, so I’m very fresh on the subject matter.

great teacher

Patient, encouraging and helpful. Sometimes learning subjects and remembering previous coursework can be difficult and discouraging especially in calc2. Isaac made sure to stop at certain points to explain some of the theory to ensure I was grasping the key concepts as well as working problems out step by step which is very helpful because in math a lot of teachers/instructors will skip steps which might be the exact point someone is having a difficult time with.

Very knowledgeable and patient

Isaac took time to really explain concepts of 1 and 2 dimensional kinematics to me. He met me where I was and made me feel comfortable. Great tutor! Certainly plan to work with him again.
