I have over 10 years of experience tutoring college-level mathematics and physics, including calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, mechanics, and other challenging STEM courses. I also spent two years teaching college physics labs and three years leading and supervising a team of STEM tutors at a community college.

My teaching style focuses on intuition, visualization, diagrams, and conceptual reasoning rather than procedural learning alone. Many students come to me after years of learning procedures without understanding how the ideas connect, causing confusion to compound as courses become more advanced. I help students strengthen understanding strategically within their current coursework so concepts become easier to retain and apply to unfamiliar problems.

I work especially well with engineering and pre-med students, overwhelmed STEM students, adult learners returning to school, students retaking difficult courses, and curious students seeking deeper understanding rather than memorization alone.

Students often tell me that sessions feel less like “surviving math” and more like finally understanding it. Focusing less on memorization and more on reasoning often improves exam performance because students become better at adapting to unfamiliar problems instead of relying purely on pattern matching.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have tutored algebra at a college level for 5 years, and completed algebra 1 in high school around 13 years ago. I got ahead in high school math but ended up speeding through the material and not actually learning it. This lead to flunking out of calculus 2 several times. I started relearning the fundamentals of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry in order to become a tutor. Since then my fundamentals are strong and I am in my senior year of an applied math and physics dual major. I want to help people learn the fundamentals well the first time! Especially if they enjoy math and have a desire to continue pursuing it as a study.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have tutored algebra 2 for 5 years at a college level. I am also a math and physics dual major in my senior year, so I am very practiced with algebra techniques.
Calculus

Calculus

I have been working as a calculus tutor for 5 years. I also have attained a physics degree so I have plenty of experience in how calculus can be applied.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I hold a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Physics and have over 10 years of experience tutoring higher-level STEM courses. My experience includes tutoring differential equations for engineering, physics, and mathematics students, with a strong focus on conceptual understanding, visualization, and problem-solving rather than memorization alone. I help students develop intuition for topics such as first- and second-order differential equations, matrix theory, systems of equations, Laplace transforms, and applications involving physical systems and modeling using numerical methods.
Physics

Physics

I’ve tutored at college of western Idaho for 6 years, and been the lead physics tutor for 4 years. I have spent the majority of my time tutoring physics subjects like early mechanics and electricity and magnetism. I also have a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics, which allows me to better assist students who are primarily struggling with the math concepts used in their physics course.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I am a mathematics major at BSU in my senior year and have tutored pre algebra for over 5 years.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I hold a B.S. in Applied Mathematics and Physics and have over 10 years of experience tutoring higher-level STEM courses. I help students visualize precalculus topics and focus on deep understanding of the ways mathematics applies to our everyday lives. The way I approach pre-calculus material helps students to be truly prepared for the calculus series, building an algebraic and geometric intuition for graphing, functions, and modelling.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have been tutoring trigonometry at the college level for 7 years. Many of the other courses I have taken and tutored involve using trigonometry often. Because of this I can help students see the bigger picture of where trigonometry will be applied.

Excellent tutor!

Isaac was very helpful! He explained motion in AP Physics to me in a clear and easy to understand way. I left the session feeling much more confident than when I arrived.

Susan, 1 lesson with Isaac

Amazing!

Isaac is super patient and helps answer all my questions from calculus to physics. He is super knowledgeable and explains every step of the way.

Alyson, 16 lessons with Isaac

great teacher

Patient, encouraging and helpful. Sometimes learning subjects and remembering previous coursework can be difficult and discouraging especially in calc2. Isaac made sure to stop at certain points to explain some of the theory to ensure I was grasping the key concepts as well as working problems out step by step which is very helpful because in math a lot of teachers/instructors will skip steps which might be the exact point someone is having a difficult time with.

Zack, 4 lessons with Isaac

Very knowledgeable and patient

Isaac took time to really explain concepts of 1 and 2 dimensional kinematics to me. He met me where I was and made me feel comfortable. Great tutor! Certainly plan to work with him again.
