I am a Boise State University student pursuing degrees in Biology (Cellular, Molecular and Biomedical) and Music, with minors in Spanish, Chemistry and Neuroscience. My academic background has given me extensive experience in the sciences, writing and language learning, while my teaching experience has taught me how to adapt instruction to individual students.

I have over six years of experience providing one-on-one instruction to children and teenagers, primarily as a private piano and flute instructor working with students of different ages, abilities, learning styles and goals. I also spent a year teaching English as a second language to children in China through individual online lessons. My earliest tutoring experience began in high school, when I provided one-on-one reading instruction to a child with a severe learning disability.

Because my teaching has consistently taken place one-on-one, I have developed an individualized approach to instruction. I break difficult concepts into manageable pieces, identify where understanding is breaking down and explain concepts in different ways until we find an approach that makes sense to the student.
I emphasize helping students become independent learners rather than simply providing answers. I teach students how to approach unfamiliar problems, organize information and study effectively. Depending on the student's needs, I may incorporate active recall, practice problems, visual explanations, guided questioning, repetition and real-world examples.

My experience ranges from young elementary students through high school. I strive to create an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is to help students improve academically while developing the skills and confidence to approach challenging material independently.
I offer middle and high school biology, chemistry, English/writing, beginner Spanish and study skills tutoring, as well as private flute and piano instruction.

Approved Subjects

Biology

Biology

I am currently pursuing a degree in Biology with an emphasis in Cellular, Molecular, and Biomedical Biology at Boise State University. My coursework has given me a strong foundation in general biology, cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, and related chemistry concepts. I also have hands-on laboratory and research experience that has strengthened my understanding of biological concepts and the scientific process. I enjoy breaking complex topics into clear, manageable explanations and helping students build both understanding and confidence.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I am currently pursuing a Biology degree at Boise State University along with a minor in Chemistry. My coursework includes college-level general and organic chemistry, giving me a strong foundation in topics such as atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, acids and bases, and introductory organic chemistry. My broader biology coursework and laboratory experience have also given me experience applying chemistry concepts in scientific settings. I enjoy breaking challenging chemistry problems into manageable steps and helping students understand the reasoning behind them rather than simply memorizing formulas.
English

English

I am a Boise State University student pursuing degrees in Biology and Music, with a strong academic background in reading, writing, and communication. I have a year of experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to children in China through individualized online lessons, where I adapted instruction to each student’s English proficiency and learning needs. My teaching experience also includes one-on-one reading instruction for a child with a significant learning disability, as well as over six years of private instruction with children and teenagers. I enjoy helping students strengthen their reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, writing, and communication skills in a patient and encouraging environment.
Geometry

Geometry

I have completed college-level coursework in algebra, trigonometry, and calculus, giving me a strong mathematical foundation that extends far beyond the high school curriculum. I am comfortable working with the core concepts taught in high school geometry, including angles, triangles, congruence and similarity, polygons, circles, coordinate geometry, transformations, area and volume, the Pythagorean theorem, and introductory trigonometric relationships. I also have professional teaching experience and am comfortable breaking complex concepts into smaller, more approachable steps for students. When tutoring geometry, I focus on helping students understand why geometric relationships work rather than simply memorizing formulas, while using diagrams, worked examples, and guided practice to build problem-solving confidence.
Spanish

Spanish

I am pursuing a minor in Spanish at Boise State University and have completed multiple years of formal Spanish study at both the high school and university levels. My coursework has given me a strong foundation in Spanish grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, pronunciation, and conversation. As an experienced one-on-one instructor, I am comfortable breaking down grammar and language concepts into clear, manageable explanations and adapting lessons to individual learning styles. I especially enjoy helping beginning and intermediate students build a strong foundation and become more confident using Spanish.
Writing

Writing

I am a Boise State University student pursuing degrees in Biology and Music with extensive experience in academic writing across the sciences, humanities, and liberal arts. I earned a perfect score on the ACT Writing section, demonstrating strong skills in essay development, organization, argumentation, and written communication. My college coursework has further developed my experience with research papers, analytical writing, source evaluation, revision, and citation. I help students strengthen their ideas, organization, grammar, and style while teaching them the skills to become more confident and independent writers.
