I have a BA in Mathematics Education, a MS in Education with a specialty in integrating technology in the classroom, and a 5-12 All Science endorsement. All of these credentials have allowed me to help students with a broad range of topics in math and science, but also make connections across content areas and better help students see the applications of many of the topics/content they are learning. Helping them with the why, and not just the how.
In my 22 years of teaching I have helped thousands of students succeed in the classroom. Whether extending on a lesson or concept, or helping build understanding and confidence for students that may be struggling. I have extensive experience identifying and understanding the pitfalls and areas that can be challenging for students in a wide variety of subject areas, and in that time have developed numerous strategies and resources for helping students better learn and understand. These strategies include breaking more complex problems down into simple steps, using a variety of explanations to meet different learning styles, as well as connecting concepts and subjects to other concepts, as well as real world connections. I have also worked extensively with students 1 on 1 to help bridge gaps in understanding, help students get caught up on homework, improve grades, and prepare for tests. This not only includes my own students, but also many students from other teachers that seek me out for help due to my ability to explain tricky concepts.
