About Mark

Bio

My name is Mark and I have spent over 22 years in the classroom. I have been a high school Physics and Chemistry teacher for the past 10+ years, working at all levels from AP, to Honors, to Applied. Prior to teaching Physics and Chemistry I was a math teacher for 12 years, teaching classes from Algebra 2 to Geometry to Algebra 1. My name is Mark and I have spent over 22 years in the classroom. I have been a high school Physics and Chemistry teacher for the past 10+ years, working at all levels from AP, to Honors, to Applied. Prior to teaching Physics and Chemistry I was a math teacher for 12 years, teaching classes from Algebra 2 to Geometry to Algebra 1. I hold a Bachelors in Mathematics Education and a Masters in Education, as well as a 5-12 All-Science Endorsement. Whether in my own classroom, helping other students, or tutoring online, I have always enjoyed watching the light bulb go off as a tricky concept "clicks" for a student, or seeing a student realize the value and application of a certain concept.

One of my main goals with every student is to help them build confidence and to better understand the subject. Whether it is a tricky formula, an abstract concept, or a multi-step equation, I want to help break concepts/problems down for them in a way that makes the most sense to them and allows them to apply it in the future. I also want students to see the applications of their concepts to their everyday life. That is one of the reasons I made the move from teaching math to teaching chemistry and physics 10 years ago, was it allowed me to not only teach the math, but better help students apply it to the world around them. I bring that level of application and connection to all of my sessions, whether it be physics/chemistry, or algebra/geometry.
