My name is Natalie and I am a Senior here at Central College. I tutored elementary students in vocabulary and reading with Raising Readers in Story City, IA for a summer. I love working with students and helping them better their reading, comprehension and spelling skills! My goals are always to increase young folks confidence in their ability as students, and always ensure a pleasant and patient environment. Along the way, different tips on how to study, stay on topic, and work through frustrating moments will be included. This is just to ensure that confidence and ability are built up for the long term educational journey! I am excited at the prospect to help kids improve educationally, but also become confident, successful readers.

I have written a research paper that was nominated for our College Anthology. I also have continued research experience through studying the academic achievement gap between different groups of students and how they were changed through the COVID-19 pandemic. I have completed several large-scale presentations where I presented to 100+ individuals about personal research. This has helped me as public speaker, and I have regularly shared those experiences with fellow students in order to assist them in their public speaking endeavors. Lastly, I grew up an avid reader and read pieces from all different eras and difficulty levels in my studies. Through this and recreational reading, I am regularly informing and improving my own reading, writing, proofreading, and spelling skills.

I have worked with students over summers between college semesters helping them craft their spelling and vocabulary skills.
