I have had six years experience teaching English as a second language in two private Greek junior and senior high schools.

I have had fourteen years experience teaching Informative and Persuasive Speech in two private Greek liberal arts colleges. Along with five years of teaching American History in a private Greek liberal arts college. In addition, I have had twelve years teaching Decision Making and Problem Solving in Groups.

I truly enjoyed the one-on-one experience I had as a tutor of specialized exams. I believe tutoring allows the teacher to tailor the lesson to the strengths, weaknesses and needs of the student. Tutoring is advantageous in that as the teacher, I can quickly grasp an understanding of how the student best learns and adapt my teaching method to maximize the student's learning.

My greatest strength as a private tutor lies in having a thorough knowledge of how a particular test is written and proceed from there in devising a methodology that allows students to succeed on the exam. For instance; In the IELTS and SAT exams, reading comprehension can be quite challenging to the student. My method exploits the intricacies of how a piece is written. I then teach students how to read to extract the information to answer the question at hand. The students circumvent parts of the text and focus on the seminal matter contained therein. Essentially, 80% of a piece used on a specialized exam does not factor into answering the question, my method teaches the student the strategies and techniques needed to glean an article for the content needed in answering the questions.

I had the students gain an appreciation for the use of short-term memory and apply its function to writing the exam. I always told students that after a specialized exam if I ask them what the reading and listening passage
