I am Samantha and grew up using two languages for communication along with passing all of my classes with good grades. I ended up with a GPA of 3.7 when I graduated from Ottumwa High School and graduated university with a GPA of 3.8. I currently have my Bachelor's degree in American Sign Language and English Interpreting and am working towards my interpreting certification. Samantha is teaching my daughter sign language. My daughter is not deaf, but had a friend who is deaf, and really wants to learn to communicate with her better. My daughter is very shy, but Samantha got her to open up, and be very engaging. Samantha is fantastic !!!!

Organized and Insightful Lesson
I had my first lesson with Samantha and found her to be organized, effective, and very helpful. She clearly explained the differences between school-structured ASL and how the ASL community actually signs, which was especially useful. Samantha also provided helpful resources for further self-study. Overall, it was a productive session that gave me a better understanding of what to focus on moving forward.

My daughter has had a lesson with Samantha several times for ASL. After every lesson, my daughter understands the curriculum so much better. Samantha is the reason that my daughter will get an A in ASL.

She taught my son a lot of sign language. She was kind, polite, and professional. My son came home and told us what he learned and show it. He did great and loved sharing what he was taught. My son loved it so much and he cannot wait to do it again next week!

Awesome. Patient. Easy to work with. Most importantly though, flexible with working with students or learners of all different levels. I have five Deaf Studies classes, all with straight A’s. I mean, I’m not saying I didn’t do my thing. But Sam was a big part of that.
