I have experience with people from elementary-aged kids to post-college adults. Age doesn't matter to me in terms of teaching. I only ask that who I teach come with an openness to learning and hopefully a willingness to practice outside of the lesson. My style of teaching is adaptable to the needs of the student. I want to provide an atmosphere of positive learning and growth.
In my fifteen years in music I have learned from a wide variety of music teachers from a vast range of proficiencies and a large range of teaching styles. It has helped me to figure out more what way I learned best. I think it is important to dissuade the discouragement and tension that tends to plague students in the beginning of learning an instrument, and try to break the habits in playing that only work to hinder the joy and sounds created through music.
While my primary focus is the violin, I have played the piano for 16 years, and studied theory/composition for 3. Please feel free to reach out for more information!
