Hi, I’m Jackson. I’m a college student with over five years of experience tutoring math. I earned an Associate of Science degree from Kirkwood Community College in Computer Science and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree with a minor in math. Hi, I’m Jackson. I’m a college student with over five years of experience tutoring math. I earned an Associate of Science degree from Kirkwood Community College in Computer Science and am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree with a minor in math. Most of my experience has been working with K–12 students through Mathnasium in structured tutoring environments, though I now also tutor students in college-level coursework.

I tutor elementary math, middle school math, Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, Calculus, SAT/ACT math prep, GED math, and introductory college-level courses. My teaching style focuses on conceptual understanding rather than memorization. I use guided problem-solving and direct instruction to help students understand why methods work, not just how to follow steps mechanically.

A large part of my experience has involved helping students who felt behind, frustrated, or intimidated by math. Because of that, I place strong emphasis on identifying foundational gaps early and adapting sessions to the student’s pace and learning style. I’ve helped students with homework support, exam preparation, summer review, and transitions into more advanced classes. My goal is always to create a supportive environment where students can steadily build confidence and become more independent problem-solvers over time.

I currently offer virtual tutoring as well as in-person tutoring when location permits, and I maintain a flexible schedule throughout the summer.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I have over five years of experience tutoring math students from middle school through college-level coursework. My approach focuses on building a strong understanding of algebra, geometry, functions, and problem-solving strategies rather than memorization alone. I have worked with students preparing for standardized tests and understand how to identify and strengthen foundational skills that impact performance. I help students develop both mathematical understanding and efficient test-taking strategies.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Algebra 1 is one of the subjects I tutor most frequently. I have over five years of experience helping students understand equations, functions, graphing, inequalities, and foundational algebraic reasoning. My approach focuses on understanding why mathematical procedures work rather than memorizing steps. By identifying and addressing foundational gaps early, I help students build skills that support success in future math courses.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have extensive experience tutoring Algebra 2 topics including functions, systems of equations, polynomials, logarithms, exponential functions, and complex numbers. I focus on helping students recognize patterns and connections between concepts while strengthening their problem-solving abilities. My teaching style emphasizes conceptual understanding and long-term retention. I work with students to build both competence and confidence in advanced algebra topics.
Calculus

Calculus

I have completed coursework that relies heavily on Calculus concepts and am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree with a minor in mathematics. My background allows me to help students understand limits, derivatives, integrals, and their applications from a conceptual perspective. I focus on explaining the reasoning behind mathematical techniques rather than encouraging memorization. My goal is to help students build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of the material.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I have over five years of experience tutoring elementary math students in both one-on-one and structured tutoring environments. I focus on developing strong foundational skills, number sense, and confidence through clear explanations and guided practice. My teaching style is patient, encouraging, and adapted to each student's learning pace. I work to ensure students truly understand concepts before moving on to more advanced material.
Geometry

Geometry

I have over five years of experience tutoring Geometry students at the middle school and high school levels. I help students understand geometric relationships, proofs, transformations, area, volume, and coordinate geometry through visual explanations and logical reasoning. Rather than memorizing formulas, I focus on helping students understand where those formulas come from and how to apply them effectively. My goal is to make Geometry more intuitive and approachable.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I have extensive experience helping students transition from elementary arithmetic into Prealgebra concepts such as variables, equations, fractions, ratios, and problem solving. My approach focuses on strengthening foundational skills while introducing algebraic thinking in an intuitive way. Many students struggle in later math courses because of gaps formed during this stage, so I place a strong emphasis on conceptual understanding. I tailor lessons to each student's specific strengths and weaknesses.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I have significant experience tutoring Precalculus topics, including functions, trigonometry, logarithms, polynomial behavior, and graph analysis. Over the past five years, I have worked with students ranging from elementary mathematics through advanced high school coursework. My tutoring emphasizes conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills rather than memorization. I help students build the foundation necessary for success in Calculus and other advanced mathematics courses.
Trigonometry

Trigonometry

I have experience tutoring Trigonometry as both a standalone subject and as part of Precalculus coursework. I help students understand trigonometric functions, identities, graphs, equations, and applications through conceptual explanations and visual reasoning. Many students struggle because they attempt to memorize identities without understanding the relationships behind them, so I focus on building a strong conceptual framework first. This approach helps students retain material and solve unfamiliar problems more confidently.

great start

Off.\n To a good start, my daughter did state that she learned something from the hour session. It was some review, so it seems like we're moving in the right direction to get her Stronger For 9th Grade, math and beyond.
