Hello! I'm Bella, a current student at the University of Iowa. I am double majoring in Spanish and Behavioral Health and Counseling Services. After I graduate, I hope to get my master's and become a pediatric Occupational Therapist.
I have had experience tutoring at a weekly free library program. There I tutored primarily elementary school students, but I occasionally helped with middle and high schoolers. I worked with different students every week and because of that I got a lot of experience working with different subjects and grade levels. I have also privately tutored a high school student in Algebra 1. My strongest areas are reading and writing but I am confident that I could tutor in any class I have previously taken. I believe that the best tutors are the ones who faced the same struggles that you have.
Outside of tutoring, I have worked in various childcare settings including at a before and after school program, a summer camp, and in the classrooms as a paraprofessional. In these roles I worked primarily with special education students giving me experience working with students of all different abilities. I believe working with these populations has given me the skills to be flexible with my approaches and adjust to every learner.
I enjoy tutoring and working with children/young adults because seeing the progress they make is very rewarding. From social emotional skills to writing, there is nothing better than seeing their improvements in real time.
