I am a student at the University of Iowa, where I am studying criminology and philosophy as well as pursuing a Human Rights Certificate. I have consistently been an A-level student throughout high school and continue to maintain strong academic performance in college. My coursework has improved my critical thinking, writing, reading comprehension, organization, and problem-solving skills, which are areas I enjoy helping others develop as well.
While I have not yet formally tutored through an organization, I often help my younger brother with schoolwork, studying, and organization, which has given me hands-on experience breaking down material in a way that is age-appropriate, clear, and encouraging. Through this, I’ve learned how to explain concepts multiple ways. I am especially comfortable working with elementary through high school–aged students in one-on-one settings.
My tutoring approach balances patience and kindness with structure and accountability. I believe students learn best when they feel supported and confident, but also when expectations are clear and goals are set. I like to begin sessions by identifying what the student already understands, where they feel stuck, and what they need to accomplish—whether that’s homework completion, test preparation, or building foundational skills. From there, I help organize material into manageable steps, reinforce concepts through practice, and ensure progress is made each session. I value organization, consistency, and follow-through, and I work to help students develop these skills for long-term academic success.
I am outgoing, approachable, and genuinely enjoy helping others learn. I strive to create a positive, judgment-free environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. This not only helps students improve academically, but also builds confidence, independence, and effective study habits that will benefit them beyond a single subject.
