My name is Kenny and I am a medical student attending the Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery! I graduated from Texas Southern University with a degree in clinical laboratory science. Afterwords, I attended graduate school in Pittsburgh PA at Chatham university for Human Biology and Duquesne university for Biotechnology. In addition to academics, I was a medical technologist at a UPMC hospital laboratory in Pittsburgh.
During graduate School, I had the opportunity to teach various biology courses at both of my graduate alma maters above. I believe the best way to learn new material is to teach it to someone. The one thing I take pride in is taking difficult concepts and turning them into digestible forms of material. In addition, I learned that one of the best attributes for teacher is patience. Being patient and knowing how to adapt to an individual’s learning abilities is what makes teaching so rewarding.
Most of the students that I have tutored/instructed were of college age and older. I have taught in both the laboratory and lecture hall settings. In these settings, I have taught biology, microbiology, basic human anatomy, and Physiology. I have been teaching for around 8 years and I plan to continue while attending medical school here in Iowa.
One of my future goals is to become a physician in academia and I believe the best way to keep track my goal is to help others reach their goals. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or to schedule a session! I look forward to meeting you!
