I am currently a PhD candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Iowa where I study the role of the tumor microenvironment on melanoma progression. During my graduate schooling thus far, I have worked as a teaching assistant for one semester, where I lead class discussions and brief lessons. I will be completing courses over the next two years to obtain a college teaching certification.
Before starting my PhD, I received a Master of Public degree in Epidemiology, also from the University of Iowa. Here I served as a teaching assistant for two semesters, assisting with lectures and grading. My bachelor’s was completed at Coe College, where I double-majored in both Biology and Neuroscience. During my bachelor’s and master’s, I worked at ClubZ tutoring for 4 years, where I tutored middle and high school students across many subjects, including algebra, geometry, English/writing, reading, Spanish, and science. I also tutored ACT and PSAT prep.
My tutoring style focuses on finding a learning method that works best for students, as I know everyone learns in very different ways. I greatly enjoy helping students understand new concepts, and seeing their confidence grow and progress over multiple sessions. My education has given me expertise in anatomy and physiology, biology, genetics, and writing - all at the middle school level and above. I currently am tutoring online on the weekends. Please reach out with questions or to schedule a session, and I look forward to working with you!
