Hello, and thank you for visiting my profile! My name is Virginia, and I have been an elementary educator for 27 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Iowa. Throughout my career, I have taught students in grades 3–5 in reading, writing, mathematics, and social skills. I currently teach special education and have extensive experience working with students who have a wide range of learning styles and abilities. I have also spent several years co-teaching mathematics in the general education classroom, giving me valuable experience supporting all learners while collaborating with classroom teachers. My passion is helping students discover that they are capable of success, even when learning feels challenging.

My tutoring approach is built on patience, encouragement, and individualized instruction. I believe every child can learn when lessons are tailored to their unique strengths and needs. I take time to understand how each student learns best and use engaging, research-based strategies to build both skills and confidence. Whether your child needs extra support in reading, writing, or math, or simply needs someone to explain concepts in a different way, I strive to make learning positive, encouraging, and enjoyable. I also value strong communication with families and believe that celebrating progress—big or small—is an important part of helping students become confident, independent learners.
