I have been in the education world teaching or consulting for over 20 years. I started as a 4th grade teacher in Houston, TX and loved the classroom. I was raised in Iowa so missed the midwest and moved back to Chicago to be close to home but still have the big city life. While in Chicago, I was a Director of a daycare in Deerfield, IL. After living and working in Chicago for several years I was ready to work on my Master's Degree and moved back to Davenport, Iowa to attend St. Ambrose University. While earning my Master's Degree I received a job at Bettendorf High School teaching Special Education. I was there for four years and then changed districts to Pleasant Valley High School. I was able to teacher at Pleasant Valley High School for 14 years before becoming a consultant at Mississippi Bend AEA9. I am in the middle of my 5th year as a consultant and love the work I do with adults.
While I love my daily work, I miss working with the students and want to get back in touch with students. I tutored a student last summer and was filled with joy in helping him with his writing skills.
As my job as a special education teacher, I had the opportunity to work in the high school English classroom and work with students on their English work. This allowed me first hand as an adult and lifelong learner to learn the complete the course work and go through the courses again. I write and read daily in my job as a consultant at high levels and can teach proofreading and reading to students k-12.
I was a two year All-Stater in Iowa during high school. I sang in the Wartburg Choir and was expected to read the music of high quality.
I have been a special education teacher and in the world of special education for over 20 years and hands on experience to students will all needs.
I am willing and flexible to meet the needs of many different ages and ability levels for all students. My goal is to see the success of each individual student I work with.
