Experienced Elementary Teacher with a Focus in Reading and Math I

My name is Bethany. I graduated with high honors from Rockford College in 2002. I majored in elementary education and minored in German. I began teaching right after graduation and have ten years classroom teaching experience with most of those years as a kindergarten teacher. I enjoyed teaching these young students and with an understanding of the importance of early literacy, I went back to school and got my master’s and certification as a Reading Specialist. These classes helped give me necessary training to provide my students with a solid literary foundation. I have been working as a reading specialist for 11 years and enjoy working with students one-on-one and in small groups. The last four years, I have also had the privilege of teaching small group math interventions. My goal is to help every child reach their maximum potential while making learning fun.

While working as a teacher, I had the privilege to get trained in Reading Recovery, a one-on-one reading intervention for first grade students and Orton-Gillingham, a reading intervention for students with Dyslexia. I have also received training in using math interventions and have my ESL certification. These trainings have helped me hone my skills to better help my students.

I enjoy working with students one-on-one and small group settings and look forward to working with you and your child to help them reach their maximum potential.
