As an executive function coach as well as a teacher, I am very well versed in the variety of learning styles that accompany a diagnosis of ADHD. I recently trained on using executive function strategies to help with ADHD symptoms both as a supplement to medications and as stand alone strategies. I am acutely aware of the challenges that accompany ADHD and am equipped to teach students how to use strategies that build upon their strengths. My goal is to help students develop their own voice, communicate ideas clearly, and become increasingly confident and independent writers.

A wonderful teacher who truly maskes a difference

We are so grateful to have found Miss Kara. It took us quite some time to find a really good English teacher for our daughter, and we can honestly say that the lessons with Miss Kara are absolutely worth it. Laura started having private lessons because, although her speaking and listening skills are very well developed, she needed extra support with reading and writing, as English is her second language. When she was assessed using the Fountas & Pinnell reading levels, she was at Level I. After just one month of lessons with Miss Kara, she had already progressed to Level J and able to read a book from level P from school. We were very impressed with how quickly she was developing, especially compared with the progress we had seen before. Laura genuinely loves her lessons and is always happy to learn with Miss Kara. She is incredibly caring, patient and attentive, and the homework she gives is meaningful and directly connected to what they are working on in the lessons. One thing that really stood out to us was how much she has encouraged Laura to read. One day, Laura read a book with many pages in a single day — something she had never done before! Since then, she has started picking up books and reading much more often. There was also a lovely moment when Laura told Miss Kara that she had read a book called *Dragon Masters*. Miss Kara listened carefully and asked Laura several questions about the story. She then prepared homework based specifically on the book Laura had mentioned. This showed us that she wasn't just teaching a lesson; she was genuinely listening to Laura and paying attention to what interested her.
