Over the past 20 years, I have been blessed to work with some truly amazing students. I spent 15 years in the classroom and I have been teaching entirely online for the past 7 years. Over the past 20 years, I have been blessed to work with some truly amazing students. I spent 15 years in the classroom and I have been teaching entirely online for the past 7 years. I have helped numerous students achieve their goals; whether that is passing a test at the 99th percentile or learning strategies to stay organized, or mastering Algebra. I have homeschooled a family of 3 online for the past 6 years and am looking to take on a few more clients. I have guided students through the college admissions process and helped them write the best admissions essays possible. As a tutor, I have a wide array of knowledge for admissions tests, gifted & talented tests, and annual and benchmark academic tests. I have worked with students struggling with dyslexia, ADHD symptoms, and varying degrees on the autism spectrum. I have been told I am extremely patient and kind and can teach all subjects from Kindergarten through 8t grade. Furthermore, I can teach Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, English 1 and 2, Financial literacy, executive function skills, and Gifted and Talented test prep. I guide students to find the methods that work best for them while comprehensively covering the details of the curriculum. I have taught students from Preschool through college and hold a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in education. I am also a homeschool teacher online. I hold a TESOL certificate to teach English as a second language as well. In addition to traditional academics, I am also experienced in Singapore math and GATE/Gifted and Talented tests like CogAT, WISC-V, NNAT, OLSAT, among others. I have guided students through review of the reading, writing, arithmetic, algebra, statistics, functions, and quantitative reasoning. I have worked with students on this test for the past 7 years. As an executive function coach as well as a teacher, I am very well versed in the variety of learning styles that accompany a diagnosis of ADHD. I recently trained on using executive function strategies to help with ADHD symptoms both as a supplement to medications and as stand alone strategies. I am acutely aware of the challenges that accompany ADHD and am equipped to teach students how to use strategies that build upon their strengths. I have specifically worked with students as young as 5 with ADHD and those in college to help guide their learning with strategies to use their ADHD to their benefit. In the traditional classroom, I provided accommodations for students with ADHD in grades 4 - 8.

During my time teaching, I have taught several students at various levels on the Autism spectrum. I have been a long-term homeschool teacher for several students in a one-to-one online teaching environment. I carefully utilize session time to give students opportunities to practice skills as needed and demonstrate their independence in each skill when ready. Most recently, I have worked with a 10th grade student in Language Arts and Math. Prior to my online teaching, my classroom was an open learning environment and those students on the Autism spectrum were given as much time and guidance as needed for each of them to be successful. I have been told that I am incredibly patient, kind, and nurturing and have had clients recommend me for such in the past.

I have 10 years of experience in teaching/tutoring for preparation for the CLAST test. I have tutored students over the past 6 years for the High School Placement Exam. Seven out of the eight students scored above 96%. Although challenging, this skills included on the HSPT/COOP test can be taught in a multitude of ways. I have had the privilege of teaching multiple students that have issues with dyslexia and dyscalculia. I recently trained using Orton-Gillingham strategies to further assist students in developing strategies that help them to be more successful in traditional educational environments using touch methods and color coding, to name a few. I currently have 3 students with dyslexia that I am helping to use successful strategies specific to their needs.

I have helped prepare dozens of students specifically for the High School Placement test to ensure they get placed in advanced level classes. With 23 years of experience teaching math to students in grades 3 - 12, I have decades of expertise in preparing students for the rigor of the math questions and the analysis involved on the comprehension questions. I have prepared students for this test as young as grade 5 with weekly sessions to 8th grades who just found out about the test and have a month to prepare. I am a firm believer in practice and will assign homework to obtain the best results, if requested.

As an educator, I have not only taken the Praxis to obtain my original teaching certificate, but I have also helped several others, including student teachers, to pass the Praxis as well. The Praxis is a challenging test where all of the answers have some elements of truth, but it is all about the strategies one would utilize in the classroom. Prepping for this test requires one to get into the mindset of the test writers to fully reason through each action and each decision to maintain an engaging and healthy classroom environment. I am experienced in the K-6 test, the middle school math, english, and science test and the Algebra 1 and Geometry test.

I have been teaching online for the past 6 years full time. During that time, I have taught several students individualized strategies to improve their public speaking abilities. I even had two students advance to the finals in a national competition for public speaking.

I have taught several New York students from grades 3 - 12 online to prepare them for taking and excelling on the Regent's exam. I am familiar with the types and styles of testing questions along with the written portion. I am most familiar with the 3rd - 8th grade math and language arts and the high school math and language arts tests. I am currently teaching the Earth Science and the Living Environments Regents tests. I can help students to better understand exactly what the question is asking through a variety of methods like elimination, finding key words, and breaking down math problems.

STAAR can be quite challenging and I give students strategies to better answer the types of questions that appear on the STAAR test like 2-part Reading Language Arts questions and multi-step math equations. I have taught students in grades 3 - 8, Algebra, and English I and II. In addition to preparing students for the content material, I also help them to practice strategies to find the most accurate answer choice.
TAKS

I have taught the TAKS standards to students in grades 9 and 10 for the past 6 years. TAKS can be a rigorous test and students need to practice to feel comfortable with the test questions. I individualize my instruction to meet students where they are and enhance their strengths to get them to a level of excellence.
