I recieved a B.A. in Humanities with a concentration in English from the University of Hawaii West Oahu and an M.A. in Cinema and Media Studies from the University of Southern California. My academic background includes extensive experience in academic writing, research, critical analysis, literature, and essay development.I previously worked as a Writing Tutor at the No eau Center at the University of Hawaii–West Oahu, where I conducted individualized one-hour writing consultations with undergraduate students. I helped them at every stage of the writing process from brainstorming to revisions. My goal is to teach students how to strengthen the voice of their own writing while simultaneously teaching them the basics of grammar, building a thesis statement, and clarity. My experience as a Teaching Assistant at USC strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and personalize my feedback to individual students of diverse backgrounds.
I am especially well suited to helping high school and college students with academic essays, research-based writing, literary and cultural analysis, and the writing and revision process. In addition, my experiences in hospitality and entertainment have additionally prepared me with presentation skills and understanding how to appeal to different types of audiences. As a manager, I developed standard operating procedures and implemented them with each team member. In my current position as Activities Crew on a cruise ship, it is an everyday necessity to adapt my instruction style while teaching watercoloring, origami, pickleball, and tai chi to individuals who all learn differently. My strength has always been in my ability to clearly articulate what needs to be communicated, while also adapting and pivoting to the needs of the learner.
