Wonderful very knowledgeable teacher
We learn Hiragana signs, reading and writing and speaking. Tokie-San is teacher for many years and we not only learn about the language, but also about Japanese history and culture. It is a lot of fun and I am making great progress. I’m super happy with my teacher and can only recommend her highly.

First Session - Outstanding
I had my first session with my tutor, Tokie B. She is outstanding and fun. I will be meeting with here weekly for the months ahead. She is just what I was looking for; patient, fun, interesting and a native from Japan. I am confident that I will have a good command of the Japanese language by December, which is my goal. I want be able to speak reasonably well to the Japanese people and understand them well too when I go to Japan for a visit near the end of the year. Tokie is a superb teacher/tutor.

Excellent Tutor
Highly recommend Tokie! I feel so lucky to have found her here on Wyzant. Early in the pandemic, we began meeting virtually for Japanese tutoring sessions three times a week. She brought a welcome energy into my home, like opening a window to let in the sun. With her encouragement, it was easy to find my footing in the language, and with her expert teaching and guidance, learning became a happy balance of effort and pleasure. My original goal was to translate a particular light novel from Japanese to English; I quickly learned enough to make that a most interesting project, and I’ve continued to enjoy our sessions for three years now. Tokie-sensei is a great tutor, especially for those looking to learn at a higher level. After failing the N2 in 2017 she helped me pass in 2022 after having taken a long break from studying. She is patient with me when I practice speaking and speaks clearly in a way that helps me raise my level of listening confidence. As a native speaker and long time language teacher she is able to give very good advice on the finer points of grammar and vocabulary differences that become more important when trying to attain fluency. She gives great feedback on my written assignments that help me perfect my understanding of grammar and vocabulary.
