I have been tutoring students in various subjects since I was in middle school. At that age, I volunteered my time to help elementary students at my younger brother's school with their math homework. In high school, I found that I was passionate about the English language and literature and began to narrow my focus. Since then, I have worked with students primarily in the arts and liberal arts.
I have taught students in the classroom, both in the U.S. and in Korea, in a variety of after school programs, both domestically and abroad, and one-on-one as a private tutor. My students have ranged from young elementary school students to graduate students to adults hoping to increase their marketability.
Besides being a native English speaker, I love learning about the quirks of the English language. I have been an avid reader since I was a young child and am well versed in the Western literary canon from Dr. Seuss to Shakespeare. I also received a perfect score on the reading comprehension section of the SAT. I have been tutoring English students since I was a high school student and have worked with American students as well as foreign students from numerous countries including Korea, China, and France.
While studying art, I became very interested in learning the Korean language. This led me down a path that has resulted in me receiving a Masters Degree in East Asian Language and Literature with a focus on Korean language. I love Korean culture and the Korean language and have done my best to share that interest when I have tutored students (both children and adults) in the language in the past.
I welcome anyone to contact me if you would like a little extra help. I would love to meet you and look forward to hearing your stories as we learn and grow together.
