What makes me an outstanding common core tutor is my ability to present the material using multi-sensory methods. I use different modalities to present the material; e.g., seeing, touching, moving, hearing, doing. I also use scaffolding that allows students to learn material in "chucks."
I have an MBA and MEd from Chaminade University and an Applied Economics degree from the University of San Francisco. Many of my students with special needs in middle school have not mastered the foundations of reading. They soon learn to read and enjoy taking books home and writing simple letters or messages. One of my students said, "You mean I just match the sound to the letters." I told him, yes that's it! He said "that's cool."
My students learn to read and perform well in math. I've had a middle school science teacher cover my class for one period during math. He told my special education students that most of the students on campus are unable to do the word problems I had on the board for my students.
Please contact me. I would enjoy working with you. Let me show you how to look at your school work in a different way.
