Aloha! I'm Alfred, a Lead AI/ML Engineer based in Honolulu with a Master of Science in Computer Science, concentrating in Operations Research, from the College of William & Mary. In my day job I build production AI systems, data pipelines, and optimization models, and I rely on calculus, linear algebra, and statistics every day. That means I can show you not only how to solve a problem, but why the math matters and where you'll actually use it.
I tutor calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, pre-calculus, and probability and statistics, along with Python programming, computer science topics like data structures, algorithms, and SQL, and machine learning and data science. I also help students and career changers prepare for technical coding interviews. In a previous role I trained more than 35 professionals to use Python and data tools in their work, so I'm used to explaining difficult ideas clearly to people at every level.
My sessions start with finding out exactly where you're stuck and what you're working toward, whether that's passing an exam, finishing a project, or landing a job. From there I break concepts into clear steps, connect them to real-world examples, and have you work through problems yourself so the skills stick long after our session ends. I work with high school students, university students, and adults, and I'm available evenings and weekends, online or in person around Honolulu. Send me a message with the class or topic you're working on, and let's get started!
