Bio

I was born and raised in Japan but perhaps mostly educated in America. After I graduated from college, I became a teacher at one of the public schools.

I enjoy learning whatever it is. Learning enhances our lives in more than one way. I have experience teaching in a classroom setting and tutoring. In some way, teaching a group of students in a classroom is against my belief in the best learning environment. I believe that personalized lessons are essential to enhancing the student...

In some way, teaching a group of students in a classroom is against my belief in the best learning environment. I believe that personalized lessons are essential to enhancing the student learning experience. There is also one significant factor in learning with your tutor.
It would be best if you felt very comfortable with your tutor and felt positive about yourself around him/her.

My strength is seeing what my students are not getting and how they can best acquire the skills. Because of this, I do not have a one-size-fits-all lesson.

I took a course to improve my reading skills at the community college in order to prepare for the heavy course work in college and university, which I earned my degrees. Since my major was in Curriculum and Instructions, I also learned how to identify individual students' learning style so that I can advise the best-fitted way of studying based on their learning styles, and done so during my teaching years. I have put every skill I learned in practice on my study and graduated from college and universities with good GPA.

Excellent Tutor

I tried several times to learn Japanese on my own but made little progress even though I had studied other languages in the past. I have made significant progress with Ayumi very quickly. As I have a very busy work schedule, I also appreciate that Ayumi is flexible in our sessions and adapts if I have not had as much time to prepare for the lesson. Our lessons are always fun and eductional.

Knowledgeable and kind tutor

I learned some grammar points and had a good review session. Ayumi san was able to explain somethings regarding particles and some basic JLPT 3 level grammar. A very thoughtful tutor.

Tailors lessons per needs

Ayumi is tutoring our son in Japanese and math. So far it is a great combination and he is excited about learning both. We had some reservations on putting both together - but it really works! It challenges him in ways that keeps him engaged in the lesson. I would highly recommend Ayumi to anyone looking to tutor their child.
